Born in Cairo in 1958, Essam al Ridi was inspired by Abdallah Azzam to assist the cause of the jihad in Afghanistan. His support took the form of obtaining equipment that was thought necessary, such as night vision goggles and rifles. He acted as a "fixer" for bin Laden on occasion after the Afghan wars were over, and testified about this in a 2001 trial. This file contains the transcript of his testimony, found originally on the Findlaw site.
