Ed Felt call
Ed Felt was a passenger on Flight 93. He placed a 911 call from his cellphone shortly before the plane crashed, and this was received by the Westmoreland County 911 dispatch centre. There are two versions of what happened next.
John Shaw, the dispatcher at the centre who took the call, said Felt reported the hijack but didn't say how many hijackers there were, or make any mention of them having bombs or guns.
However Shaw's supervisor, Glenn Cramer, added the details that Felt reported "some sort of explosion" had occurred on the plane, and there was "white smoke".
Cramer said he listened to the call, so you would expect him to be correct, however the transcript doesn't contain any references to an explosion or smoke. Family members who have listened to the tape agree, and Shaw himself has said it didn't happen:
