Benazir Bhutto was a Pakistani politician who was assassinated on December 27 2007 while campaigning for the 2008 Pakistani General Election.

In the month before her death, Bhutto gave an interview where she said that Osama bin Laden had been murdered by Omar Sheikh:

The BBC made a copy of the interview available where these comments had been omitted, which lead to claims that they were trying to cover up the story. They responded here:


So had Bhutto simply mis-spoken? That seems the most likely explanation. She had never said any such thing before, and in fact had clearly talked about bin Laden as though he were alive:


It's hard to see how this can definitively be resolved now, but for us at least the most likely explanation is that Bhutto mis-spoke during the Frost interview.
